San Cristobal is not the island everyone chooses first, and that's exactly why it's worth it. Planet Ocean operates here, far from the concentration of operators in Santa Cruz, with direct access to sites few know about. Kicker Rock is the most spectacular: an hour by boat, a channel between two sheer volcanic walls, Galapagos sharks year-round and hammerheads in the right season. But the thing that truly sets this center apart is access to the only wreck in the entire archipelago, a cargo ship sunk in 1920, now home to rays and sea lions. For those who want to dive at night, there are night dives with bioluminescent plankton and octopuses. Bilingual guides, controlled guide-diver ratio, equipment included. A serious operation, on an island that deserves more attention than it receives.
